The National Catholic Register has an interesting and intriguing article on starter parishes that are being established across the country. They are coming about by a change in the population (for instance, from the northeast to the southeast part of the country) as well as a desire for a different “flavor” of Catholicism (a Melkite Greek parish is using the facilities of a Latin Rite parish for their Mass).

Is this a trend with legs? If so, what opportunities are there where you are for a “starter parish”? What challenges do you see to this approach?

Let the discussion begin.
